Andrew Carbonell is a South Florida based driver out of Miami, Fl who has been racing, coaching and instructing for 15 years. Working his way up from go karts to the professional ranks of sports car racing, paved his path to the goal of becoming a factory driver. He has been a part of Mazda Motorsports programs since 2014. Racing in the IMSA Continental challenge, achieving numerous race wins and podiums. Well known for his record at Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca where he has finished on the podium in all of his 7 races, 4 of them being race wins. Carbonell was also a part of Mazda’s SKYACTIV-D program in the Rolex Grand Am series where he co-drove to the first win of the program.
In addition to racing, Andrew was also one of the two test/development drivers for Mazda’s turn key homologated race car, the Global MX5 cup car. He’s also assisted in Mazda’s scholarship shootouts every year since becoming a part of the program and has gone on to coach the MRT24 winner through their first seasons in GMX5 cup.
